With the general election looming and the deadline for voter registration drawing ever closer, our Chief Executive Johnny Luk explains why it is so important that your cross enters the ballot box this May.

As you may have gathered, probably by all the colourful leaflets being stuffed through your door, campaign season has started.

In the next few weeks politicians from all backgrounds will be vying for your vote. You will hear sound bites, witness baby kissing and if you are lucky, hear some compelling speeches, or more likely a major gaff if you believe the papers.

I know many are disillusioned about politics and it is tempting to leave politics and policy to the television pundits.

But your vote does matter.

Make sure you register to vote by 20th of April. No one else can do it but you.

Voting turnout is among the worst for under 30’s, so it's no wonder we don’t always appear to get a good deal. This is your chance to make a difference.

Your vote is sacred and it is your choice alone. For what it's worth, when considering your candidate, think about who would best give you the opportunities to fulfil your dreams.

At NACUE – we will be looking for policies that allow start-ups to flourish, including access to skills, resources, capital and a low tax environment. The government needs to support a business environment that understands failure as part of the journey of being a top entrepreneur.

On May 7th we could have the most unpredictable general election in a generation, so your voice will matter more than ever – make it count and vote.
